Periodically, I will change the text of this page.  There is no real reason other than God is bring new challenges to my life continually and I want to share them with you ...  I will archive old ones below:

Past Encouraging Words ...

What is a Christian ?

Today's Encouragement:

It's who you know

We have been in the studio working on our latest recording.  This recording, unlike past ones will be all original material.  In the past, we have always included many "cover" versions of familiar songs because we think most people like to hear music they are familiar with.

However, both Bill and I have been on songwriting binges lately.  God has given us many messages and we want to share those messages with the world (or at least the part of the world that listens to our music!).

One of the songs that I recently wrote and that will be on our new project is called "Hideho".  Here is an excerpt of the chorus:

It's not what you do, it's who you know!

It's not where you been, it's where you go!

It's not livin' life just for the show!

Christians are often very judgemental of each other.  The Bible does call us to accountability with each other and indeed, we are all responsible to do our best to follow the life God expects of us.

However, we are all doomed to failure.  Sometimes those failures are obvious to the outside world (as in a divorce or out-of-wedlock pregnancy) and other times only we ourselves know about them.  The thing we must all keep in mind is that our Salvation is not dependent upon how "good" we are.

In the world, you might get a job or promotion not because of your abilities, but because you "know the right people".  We have a tendency to think that people who take advantage of those situations don't deserve what they got and that it's not fair.

As a Christian, that's the only way to gain Salvation.  We gain Salvation because of who we know: Jesus Christ!  And for no other reason.  We don't deserve what we get, but we get it anyway.  No matter how we live our life, we can never "deserve" Salvation.  There is no way to be "good enough" to earn it.

So, from a Salvation Standpoint, it's not what you do, it's WHO YOU KNOW!

This changes everything!  It doesn't matter what you have done in your life, Jesus Christ died as a sacrifice to cover those sins.  Thus, it doesn't matter what you have done, as long as you accept Jesus Christ's sacrifice for your sins, God will accept his sacrifice as payment for your evil deeds.

Now, don't get me wrong.  I'm not advocating accepting the sacrifice of Jesus, then just doing what you please (see the earlier article, "What is a Christian").  However, it is important to note that is doesn't matter what you've done, just where you end up.

Many Christians also make sure that people what other people see appears to be pure and pristine.  The Hypocrytical way many Christians live their lives is the main reason many people are turned off by The Church.  God doesn't care what other people think of your life.  He knows who you really are and it doesn't matter how many people you line up who say what a great guy you are, you will be judged upon your deeds (covered by the Blood of Christ, of course), not what others think of you.  The person you are when no one is around is the person you really are!

In Christ,
